Life can quickly become overwhelming. Uncertainty, difficult circumstances, unanswered questions, and challenges we cannot control can cause us to focus more on the problem than on the One who holds the answer.
When life feels impossible, we may begin to wonder, Can God really handle this? Is there a way forward?
The Bible gives us a powerful question to consider:
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?” — Jeremiah 32:27
God’s question is not meant to reveal whether He knows the answer. He already does. It is an invitation for us to shift our focus, away from our limitations and toward His unlimited power.
What Is Too Hard for the Lord?
When we face a difficult situation, our natural response is often to measure the problem against our own strength, resources, experience, and understanding.
We ask:
- How will I get through this?
- What if things don't work out?
- What can I possibly do?
These are understandable questions, but they can cause us to focus on what we cannot do rather than on what God can do.
Jeremiah 32:27 reminds us that God is the Lord of all flesh. Nothing is outside His knowledge, authority, or ability.
Is anything too hard for the Lord?
The answer is no.
This does not mean that God will always answer our prayers in the way we expect. Faith is not a promise that every difficulty will disappear. Instead, faith means trusting God's character, wisdom, and power, even when we cannot see what He is doing.
Shift Your Focus From the Problem to God
Faith often begins with a change in perspective.
The circumstances around us may not change immediately, but where we place our attention can change everything.
When we focus entirely on our problems, fear can become louder than faith. But when we turn our attention toward God, we are reminded that our circumstances do not define His ability.
The problem may be bigger than us, but it is never bigger than God.
This is why Scripture repeatedly calls us to remember who God is. He is faithful. He is present. He is powerful. He is trustworthy.
Sometimes the most important step we can take is simply to stop and remind ourselves:
God is bigger than what I am facing.
Recognizing Our Human Limitations
Acknowledging our limitations is not a sign of weak faith. In fact, recognizing that we cannot do everything ourselves can bring us into a deeper dependence on God.
There will be moments when our strength is not enough. There will be situations we cannot fix, answers we cannot find, and outcomes we cannot control.
These moments can become opportunities to trust God more deeply.
Instead of saying, “I can't do this,” faith allows us to say:
“I may not know how this will work out, but I know the One who does.”
That shift in focus can bring peace in the middle of uncertainty.
Trusting God When You Cannot See the Outcome
One of the hardest parts of faith is trusting God when we cannot see what is ahead.
We often want God to show us the entire path before we take the first step. But faith frequently requires us to trust Him one step at a time.
Surrendering our circumstances to God does not mean giving up or becoming passive. It means acknowledging that God's wisdom is greater than ours and choosing to trust Him with what we cannot control.
There is freedom in realizing that we do not have to carry every burden by ourselves.
- We can pray.
- We can act wisely
- We can do what God has placed before us.
And we can leave the outcome in His hands.
Faith Changes the Way We Face Difficult Circumstances
When our focus shifts from our circumstances to God's character, our perspective begins to change.
The mountain may still be there, but we no longer face it believing that we are alone.
The unanswered question may remain, but we can have peace knowing that God is still at work.
The situation may be beyond our understanding, but it is never beyond God's understanding.
This is the beauty of Christian faith. We do not have to understand everything before we trust God.
Sometimes faith means saying:
“Lord, I don't understand this, but I trust You.”
Embrace What God Can Do
We are often limited by what we can see.
God is not.
Our understanding is limited. His is not.
Our resources are limited. His are not.
Our strength is limited. His is not.
When we begin to understand this, we can approach life's challenges differently. Instead of allowing fear to determine our perspective, we can choose to trust God's ability and faithfulness.
This is not about pretending that difficulties do not exist. It is about refusing to allow difficulties to become bigger in our minds than God is.
When You Need to Shift Your Focus
The next time you find yourself overwhelmed by a difficult situation, take a moment to pause.
Ask yourself:
What am I focusing on right now, my circumstances or God's ability?
Then remember the question God asked in Jeremiah:
“Is there anything too hard for me?” — Jeremiah 32:27
Let that question settle in your heart.
Your situation may be difficult. You may not know what tomorrow will bring. You may not have the answers you are looking for.
But God is not limited by what limits you.
A Final Encouragement
Faith does not mean that life will always be easy. It means that we don't have to face life's difficulties without hope.
When fear tells you that there is no way forward, shift your focus.
When circumstances tell you that the situation is impossible, shift your focus.
When you feel like your strength is running out, shift your focus.
Look beyond what you can see and remember who God is.
Nothing is too hard for the Lord.
Whatever you are facing today, bring it to Him. Trust His wisdom. Depend on His strength. And take the next step knowing that the God who holds all things is greater than anything you will ever face.
